This past summer (2006) Texas had triple digit heat for 21 days. I live on the top floor of a 3-story building. There are 4 units on each floor. When the temperature went over 100 degrees my air conditioner could not keep up. It was 90 degrees during the day and would not cool down past 85 at night. An air conditioning repairman was on property one day and I asked him to check my air conditioner on the roof. He said it was doing what it was supposed to do. That is was only a 1.5 ton and I needed a much bigger air conditioner to cool down my condo in the triple digit heat. He said it had plenty of Freon, but it just couldn’t do the job. I “accepted” the expert’s opinion for a couple of days. The monkey chatter started in my head: maybe I can go stay with my sister for awhile; maybe I can get it replaced, etc. Then after a couple of miserable nights I was talking to the U and it dawned on me I didn’t have to “accept” the “expert’s” “no” because I had the U. I sat down on my couch and visualized cool air blowing on my neck. I saw myself being comfortable. I gave thanks and accepted the U’s promise. The next night when I came home from work and opened the door cold air washed over me. A couple of days later my neighbor (who has the same exact condo as I do) came over and said “how do you have cold air? We are burning up over there”? Before I could tell her about The Secret and how I came to have cold air her husband called to her. But before she left she mentioned that she had just paid a $460 electric bill and they had no cool air. After I shut the door and sat down again I got to thinking about her electric bill. I decided I didn’t want to pay $460 for mine. So I visualized my bill being less than $200. For the rest of the 100 degree heat wave (another 2 weeks or so) I had wonderful cool air. It was a joy to come home and be comfortable. In fact, it got so so cold over the next couple of weeks I had to wear socks and long sleeves. When I got my electric bill it was for $185.00. The air conditioner guy did not replace my air conditioner. He did not add Freon to it. He did not “jiggle” it to make it work better. The expert told me “no.” And I accepted it. Until I woke up and realized I didn’t have to accept anybody’s no.

About 3 or 4 years ago we had a particularly cold cold spell during the winter. It was in the 20’s. I woke up one morning to no hot water. After I got to work I called the manager of the property (Ramona) and she told me one of the boiler’s went kerplunk and she was calling a repairman that day. The next morning I had no hot water again. I called Ramona back and she said they had to order a part. The 3rd morning I had no hot water again. The monkey chatter started. I’m going to have to go to my sister’s to wash my hair. I’m going to have to boil water to wash my contact lenses. Etc. The next day I call Ramona and find out the part they need to fix the boiler has to be ordered from out of state. It will be awhile before it is fixed. I accepted the no. Until the following day I was driving home from work and it dawned on me (duh) that I didn’t have to accept anybody’s “no.” I saw myself in my shower the next morning with steaming hot water. I was washing my hair and feeling the water run down my body. I was so happy that I had hot water. I thanked the U for the hot water I knew I was going to have. At that moment it was like all the cells in my body came alive. They were literally vibrating. I knew without a doubt I would have hot water the next morning. And I did. It was steaming hot too. Not tepid. Not lukewarm. STEAMING. I washed my hair and stood under that water for a very long time, all the while feeling appreciation. When I left for work that morning my neighbor was coming out her door and I said, thank God they fixed the hot water! She said the hot water isn’t fixed. I said, what? She said, it isn’t fixed yet. Hmmmm. I get to work and call Ramona. Did you guys fix the hot water heater? No she says. It is going to be a few more days yet. The next morning I had steaming hot water again. As I left for work my neighbor was coming out her door again. I said, do you have hot water yet? She says no, not yet. It was another 3 days before they fixed the boiler. I had steaming hot water for those 3 days and I’m on the same pipes as everyone else in my building.

I have created many things over the years. But the one I am most in awe of is what happened this past summer at work. I am a floating secretary for a law firm. When the secretaries are out I fill in until they return. At one desk there was a very young attorney (female) and I said something offhandedly and she took offense. She was furious with me. She started screaming and raising her voice and saying some very ugly things and would not let me get a word in edgewise to apologize for offending her. She threw me out of her office and refused to speak to me and didn’t speak to me for a full 2 months when we passed in the hall. I felt really bad that I had hurt her feelings and I wasn’t allowed to broach the subject with her. One day a friend called from Florida. I had told him about it in an earlier phone call, and this day he said, hey, has [attorney’s name] asked for you to sit at that desk? I said, oh, right, that is never going to happen. As soon as I said it I realized what I had said. I told him, the Universe just said yes to me. The Universe has only one answer and that is yes and I just told it this isn’t fixable. After we hung up the phone I turned it over to the U. I saw this young woman and me laughing and cutting up. We were smiling at one another. We had gone back to the good relationship we had before. I visualized this every morning in bed and every night before I went to sleep. Just seeing us being friendly again. I couldn’t see any way to fix this and I knew it would take a miracle. But I never faltered with my visualizing. I had faith. It took 2 months before anything happened. I was walking down the hall one day and she came running up behind me and calling my name and asking me if I had a minute. I turned around and said, sure. She said their secretary was relocating to another city and all 3 of them (the other 2 attorneys and she) were in agreement they wanted me to be their permanent secretary! I think my mouth fell open. I told her I would think about it. And, of course, I turned her down. There was no way I was going to deal with a volatile personality on a permanent basis. The U did what I could not. All I did was believe it would happen. I didn’t know how. I just knew if I did my part the U would do Its part. I persevered and kept seeing it in my mind’s eye and the U worked a miracle for me.

To me, that is more impressive than cool air and hot water. That was a biggie for me. I am a true believer. I recently visualized a beautiful new safe house in a beautiful safe neighborhood. And I close this week. The house has a new wooden fence. But I want an 8′ vinyl privacy fence. 🙂 Guess what I’m focusing on now. :)I know I can have anything I want. I am so blessed.
