My secret story.

For more than five years, The Secret has been in the back of my mind, but I really began to use it to influence and guide my life a little over a year ago. I had moved to a new city to escape painful memories of a life and relationship gone sour and unfulfilled. I wanted to give myself a new start, so I packed up and set out on a new journey.

Due to this decision, a series of events took place that left me jobless, living on credit cards, without health insurance, and in a town where I was all alone. I felt like many times I had hit rock bottom and made a stupid mistake. I felt like I was moving from failure to failure in my career and in my relationships. I had an advanced degree, was in great shape, and took care of myself, but I felt like I was going nowhere. I was just scared and looking for someone or something to rescue me.

With the help of The Secret, I am proud to say I rescued myself. One day, I remembered The Secret and dug out my copy. I started reading the book again, watching the movie online every night, and praying and asking God and the Universe to change my life. It did not happen overnight, but I am here to tell you that a year later, my life is totally different, and that is because of The Secret and the law of attraction.

I wrote down in my journal every day, one thing at a time. I stopped complaining and writing about all the bad things happening in my life. Instead, I wrote what I was thankful for and what I wanted to attract into my life, and I got specific about it. First was my job! I prayed for a break into the corporate world and spent hours upon hours searching ads, surfing online, applying to an agency for help, and going to countless dead-end job interviews. In the meantime, I also kept a social life going. I met everyone that I could and went out as often as I could.

Finally, after writing down what I wanted every day and doing two months’ worth of interviews, I did not land a job through all the time I wasted filling out applications. However, because of a friend I had gotten to know, I got hired at a great company with a great starting salary, amazing benefits, and a bonus structure. Also, my socializing paid off for my small side business, and it began to grow, too.

My standard of living changed drastically, and immediately, I came within two weeks of being evicted from my apartment. I could not find a roommate to split the rent, no matter how hard I looked. But it ended up that I did not even need one. I am not independently wealthy by any means; but not only can I now afford to live without a roommate, I can afford to pay off debt and save for retirement.

When I first moved into my condo, I had a bed and an old dresser, and now it is a tranquil retreat. It is filled with furniture I saw in my mind’s eye and I had attracted each piece to me.

To keep it going, I didn’t wait for a social life to find me; I found it. I went out alone to meet new people. If I didn’t get an invite to a party, I found out how to invite myself. Soon, people became dependent on me to help them with their social life. So, I changed my job, my home, and my support group, and now I decided I was going to attract an amazing relationship and travel into my life. So, I started writing down what I wanted.

I got out my journal and placed an order with the catalog of the Universe. After it was all said and done, I said thank you to the Universe for taking care of this for me. I can’t wait to meet him. I kept busy in the meantime taking care of myself.

Two months later, he came along. He was exactly what I put down on my list and we adore each other. So now I am having my cake and eating it too, but wait, there is more!

Interestingly enough I had written down that I was going to take at least two major vacations this year. I had no idea how I was going to pay for it. I worked the numbers over and over on paper and in my head and started a little travel fund, but there was no way I was going to be able to afford it with all the other places my money was going. When I just placed the order and let it ride, I got even more than I could have wished for. My amazing man owns a travel company! I have already traveled with him several times, and our next big trip is a 10 day getaway to an island paradise!

All that happened in a year, and if I can do it, anyone can turn their life around. We all deserve it. Check back with me in another year, and let’s see how much farther I have come. I have written down that I want to have a million dollar idea. Thank you, universe!
